Barry Jay Hughes - Best Live Stream Performance in Ulster
Barry Jay Hughes – Best Live Stream Performance in Ulster

You may remember a few weeks back I reached out to my fans and followers on social media asking for help with the public vote for the Book Entertainment Awards 2020. And you guys did well! Infact you did better than that – YOU SMASHED IT!!  And now I’ve been given the title of Best Live Stream Performance – Ulster.

This was determined by the quality of my virtual gigs in the last few months, the feedback from the

viewers, my social media following, updated biographies and other info and most importantly the votes sent in by you, the fans. So a massive Thank You for that. I may be calling on your help again for the next round so be prepared.

With almost 30 Virtual Gigs under my belt now, I can safely say that the support shown to me has been amazing and if it weren’t for the viewers and listeners, there would be no gigs.

Lockdown Sessions online with Barry Jay Hughes

It was strange at the start but eventually the idea of gigging from the safety of my home was quite appealing; No load-in of gear, no long journeys, no sound checks needed, zero stress. But with that came the realisation that I wouldn’t have an actual real-life audience for the foreseeable future. That was the part that was hard to get used to. But fear not, the Barry Jay Hughes fans have never failed to cheer me on each week as I continue my Sunday residency with The Dingle Whiskey Bar, be part of a 24 hour Worldwide Virtual Music Festival (Giving Gigs) or perform for The Cellar Door Sessions, Florida and collaborate with my local Nuremore Hotel, Carrickmacross for online gigs. The followers have been there encouraging me as I entertain my fans in Poland that I met through the PolskaEire Festival, or do the occasional charity gig to help raise awareness and funds for those Irish charities that are missing out on vital fundraising. Massive thanks to my fans for the loyalty, especially in more recent times. (Special Thanks to Cary, Devon, Mike, Wojciech, Gemma, Dave, Carrick Cancer, Denise (SOSAD),

As the weeks go by I enjoy it more and more and have started to play around with some themes like: My American Songbook, Girl Power, Garth Brooks Special, 100% Irish and many more. It has been great fun exploring new music and challenging myself to push the boundaries while I’m presented with the opportunity. Incidentally all my previous Lockdown Virtual Gigs are featured on my YouTube Channel. Click Here to catch up.

So at least now I know the hard work is paying off and to receive this reward has taught me that I should keep going and keep doing what I do while I wait for the real gigs to start up again.

If you haven’t seen any of my virtual gigs I hope you can drop by some Sunday evening to my facebook page “Barry Jay Hughes” or you can find all the relevant info on dates and links on the lockdown section of the site. If you’re a regular to the gigs – please know that I really appreciate your support and your company. I look forward to seeing you all at a gig very soon. I’ll keep you updated on how things are progressing through my social media platforms. But until then I’m going to continue playing and improving my award winning virtual gigs
